ProLife Essay Contest
Barb and I are pleased to announce the theme for this year’s pro-life essay contest. This will be the first year that we will be working with the three diocese pro-life offices. It has been a work in progress for over a year, and hopefully for many years to come. This is the theme for this years contest:
“Every child ... brings us God’s smile and invites us
to recognize that life is his gift, a gift to be welcomed with love
and preserved with care always and at every moment.”
— Pope Benedict XVI —
Hints: Identify some concrete examples in which our society treats human life like a burden or problem instead of a scared gift from God ? Then identify some ways in which the Catholic Church and you personally, can help society to treat human life as a sacred gift from God.
The essay contest will be started in January 2010. The timelines and rules for your diocese can be obtained from your diocesan Pro-life office. The offices are as follows:
- Archdiocese of Omaha Respect Life Apostolate • Fr. Damien Cook
c/o St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 709 S 28th St., Omaha NE 68105

- One-Rose One-Life weekend is set for Jan. 23 and 24, 2010. If this weekend does not work for your parish, please use another date.
- Have your council consider becoming a Buck-A Month Club member. This is a great way for your council to support your own favorite pro-life cause, because your council is eligible to get back half of the funds you send us.
- We also have a good supply of the pro-life magnets on hand. Contact us for more information, or visit the Web site at nebraskakofc.org.
- Please remember to send us your council’s application for the “Support of Life” award. These awards will be given out at the State convention in April.
