Fish Dinners

Each year we serve fish dinners on the 2nd, 4th and 6th Friday of Lent. The following table shows, by year, the count of meals served at each of these three dinners. In the Totals columns the first number is the total meals for the given year. The second total is the cumulative total for the given year plus all preceding years.
In 2013 the first meal was cancelled due to the weather.

Blood Drives

We have been scheduling blood drives at St, Thomas More since 1998. In most years we hold two drives, but in some of the earlier years we had three drives, and a couple years had only one drive. The following table shows, by year, the count of blood units actually collected at each of these drives. This count is usually less than the actual number of donors since a few donors are generally rejected each time because of a health problem or something similar. In the Totals columns the first number is the total units collected for the given year. The second total is the cumulative total for the given year plus all preceding years.

Scholarships

Our scholarship program began in 1998 with the intention of providing financial help to an eighth grade student from St. Thomas More who would be going on to a Catholic high school. An essay contest is used to determine the winner. For the first two years $500 was awarded to the winner. In the third year (2000) the amount was raised to $1,000. In 2011 we decided to award a second scholarship of $500. However, in that year the essay contest resulted in a 2-way tie for the winners so it was decided to award $750 to each winner. Since 2012 Both a $1,000 scholarship and a $500 scholarship have been awarded.

Tootsie Roll Drives

Tootsie Roll drives have been an ongoing project every year for our Council. The following table shows the money collected each year in this drive along with a cumulative total. The amount noted for 1990 is an estimate derived from various sources of information. The amount for 1992 is probably a rounded amount. There are two amounts noted for 2012 because the drive schedule changed from spring to fall that year, and a fall drive was needed that year so that the fraternal year of July 2012 - June 2013 would not be missing a Tootsie Roll drive.
