Community

The Knights of Columbus was created to help widowed Catholic women their children, orphans, and promote the Judeo Catholic tradition in a time Catholics were not warmly received in the US.  The National order and our local council still take this to heart.  We are involved in our community in part in the following activities.


KVSS Challenger Club  Supports the fundraising for Nebraska’s Catholic radio network’s opperating budget.  Evangelizing with 21st Centry media.   


Gary Dunn Memorial Scholarship  A convert to Catholicism and Principal of Cedar Catholic, Gary did many things to help students further their Catholic education.  This fund is disbersed as the Council’s discretion to local recipients.  Held in March it is open to all.  Most recent details


One Rosw One Life  Celebrates the MIRACLE of life and helps place medical equipment in Nebraska supporting the Pro Life effort.  Details


Tootsie Roll Sunday  One of the more known fundraisers of the Knights, this helps people with mental challenges, and brain injuries.  October 9, 2016 was the latest weekend.


Pro Life Breakfast  Held in March this breakfast is well attened and supports local  Pro Life activities.  Most recent details 


Soup Suppper  A new tradirion connected to Hrtington’s holiday kick off, the .  Held the Friday before Thanksgiving.  Put on with help from other local groups.  Raised funds are distributed locally at the council’s discretion.  Most recent details
