Rules for Displaying U.S. Flag

A flag should be displayed only from sunrise to sunset, unless illuminated.
The flag should not be displayed on days when the weather is stormy.
When displayed horizontally or vertically against a wall or window, the stars should be on the upper left-hand corner.
When flown at half-staff, the flag should be first raised to the peak and then lowered. At dusk, the flag should be again raised to the peak and then lowered for the day.
When a flag is used to cover a casket, it should be placed so that the stars are over the deceasedís left shoulder.
On Memorial Day, the flag should be flown at half-staff only until noon, and then raised to the top of staff for the rest of the day.
When a flag is worn out, it should be destroyed in a dignified manner, preferably by burning.
