Cathedral Notes

A meeting of the Cathedral Building Board was held last Monday afternoon in the offices of Mr. T.J. Mahoney.  The principal business before the board was the consideration of bids for the foundation work of the Cathedral.  Five bids were considered, and that of Mr. W.P. Deverell for $15,738.00 was accepted.  This award is only for the foundations up to the level of the ground and for the necessary excavations.  The contract for this work was signed last Tuesday.  The rest of the foundation work will, it is hoped, be contracted for later in the summer.  Mr Deverell obligates himself to finish his part of the work by August 1.
On Wednesday afternoon the Bishop, Mr. Kimball and several gentlemen interested in the Cathedral assembled on the grounds at 40th and Burt streets, and having carefully considered the location , finally decided as to what would be the exact site of the Cathedral.  The front will be 64 feet from 40th street and 50 feet from Burt, and will front of 40th.  Mr. Deverell, the contractor, who was also present thinks he would be able to begin work next week.
