About Fr. Flicek Fr. Flicek was born on August 16th, 1908 in Badger, Minnesota. He studied at Holy Cross Abbey in Canyon City, Colorado, and St. Paul Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota. He was ordained on May 27th, 1939, and first served as priest at the Nebraska state penitentiary. After just a month, he was appointed administrator at Burchard and Table Rock. He then transferred to Wahoo in September of 1939 for one year. Bishop William Brady, the former rector of St. Paul Seminary, requested that Fr. Flicek serve in the Sioux Falls diocese from 1940 to 1941. On his return to the Diocese of Lincoln, he was appointed pastor at Denton. On May 2, 1945, Fr. Flicek began his long tenure as pastor at St. Joseph in Auburn until his retirement on July 1, 1971. Fr. Flicek completed his earthly pilgrimage on February 8th, 1976. God bless his soul! |
