A WORD FROM OUR CHAPLAIN .......

Dear Brother Knights,

We have just celebrated the Solemnity of the Epiphany. The word epiphany means a manifestation or revelation. In the story of the Three Wise Men, we see Jesus manifested to the gentile world, since the Three Wise Men were from the East. One of the main lessons of this solemnity is that we all are called to be an epiphany, that is, a manifestation of the goodness of the Lord. How can a member of the Knights of Columbus be an epiphany? How can we better lead others to Jesus? The gifts of the Three Wise Men, gold, frankincense and myrrh, give us some ideas. What is our gold? What is our frankincense? What is our myrrh?
St. Gregory the Great wrote eloquently about these gifts that we should present to Jesus in our daily lives. He states that gold is Christ’s wisdom, which shines in us. Frankincense is the prayer and adoration we give to Jesus, and myrrh is our daily self-sacrifices. May we, like the Three Wise Men, open our hearts ever more wide to Jesus. Let us ask Jesus for the grace to open the doors of our hearts, our homes and our Church to others.
May each of us Knights be an epiphany, a manifestation of the Lord to all we meet throughout this coming year of grace.
