January 2012 Message from Grand Knight Jeff Svehla

Brother Knights,

It’s hard to believe but one month of 2012 is already by us. Hopefully all of you made it through the New Year in good health and spirit! Also hoping that all of your resolutions are still in place. As we get rolling this year please keep in mind all of our Knights activities and events. We do have numerous Council activities on the horizon so please don’t be a stranger. Whether it’s a meeting, soup supper, breakfast, just come on down—we’d love to see you. A huge thank you to all who participated in our Awards Dinner. Another great turnout. Thanks goes out to Ray and Dee Johnson for all of their work again. And a big congratulations to our Family of the Year – Marv and Gloria Rinkol and our Knight of the Year – Deacon Dan Keiter. A reminder to please attend our February business meeting as we will discuss and vote on a $1,000 donation to the Children’s Scholarship Fund. Your participation on this vote will be appreciated as we discuss what’s in the best interest of the Council. May God bless each and every one of you!

Fraternally,
Jeff Svehla, GK

Funeral Mass Honor Guard
If you attend a funeral Mass for a Brother Knight, you are encouraged to participate in the KC honor guard. Knights will usually gather in the church entrance prior to the Mass and pin on the honor guard ribbons to their coats. The honor guard processes together into the church before the family and is seated together behind the pews reserved for the pall bearers. At the conclusion of the Mass, the honor guard processes out of the church, before the family and casket are ushered out, and we stand at attention at the church entrance as the casket leaves the church. All Knights from any Council are welcome to stand honor guard. If the deceased is also a member of the Fourth Degree, a color corps of Fourth Degree Knights leads the KC honor guard.

Wanted Knights for one hour???
Every first Saturday of the month at St. Bon's Church from 10:00 P.M. to 6:00 A.M. on Saturday, a devotion called, Nocturnal Adoration is conducted.. Make an hour anytime with your fellow Knights. We have an opening for the 1-2 am shift and really need a Knight to step forward and be responsible for this one hour. Many rewards will be obtained. Bob Voboril, PGK, Church Director

Corporate Communion Sunday
On January 29th at St. Bon's Church, our Council will hold our 5th Sunday corporate communion at the 7:00 A.M. Mass. Come with your family and we will all sit together in church. Let's show our presence as Knights of Columbus.

The Benefit of Brotherhood

The Knights of Columbus insurance program recently passed a major milestone when total insurance in force exceeded $65 billion for the first time. The Order was established in 1882 as a fraternal benefit society, and one of its primary aims was to enable its members to protect their families with life insurance. The amount of Knights of Columbus life insurance in force has doubled in the past decade, from $32.9 billion in 1997 to $65 billion today.

The Knights of Columbus now has over $14 billion in assets and more than 1.8 million life, annuity and long-term care policies in force, and ranks in the Fortune 1000 list of America’s largest companies. It is one of only six insurance companies in North America to receive the highest possible rating from both Standard & Poor’s (AAA) and A.M. Best (A++), and certification of ethical business practices from the Insurance Marketplace Standards Association (IMSA).

Have you taken advantage of our Orders’ greatest fraternal benefit? Give me a call.
