Ellen Soukup
Widely Renowned Contemporary Christian Vocalist, Songwriter, and Speaker
Ellen hasn't stopped singing for the Lord since the age of 12, when she was first asked to lead the congregation in song at church. And after her first recording in 2000, she has led a music ministry as a contemporary Christian singer, songwriter and speaker that has touched thousands of lives across the nation.
In 2000, she was inspired to write her first song called Thy Will Be Done, and has gone on to record four CDs since then. It’s been five years since Ellen wrote, recorded and released her last album, and her latest recording, Jerusalem, promises to be one of her best. With a combination of meditative, upbeat and gospel melodies, Jerusalem shows the incredible versatility and range God has blessed Ellen with, as listeners feel drawn closer to Christ.
Like her past recordings, Jerusalem has music all ages can appreciate. What sets it apart from her other CDs (Thy Will Be Done, What Shall We Give, and The Truth is There) is the exceptional production value and variety of music that accentuate the energy of her smooth and spiritually vibrant voice.
The title track for Jerusalem was inspired by Ellen’s experience holding a beautiful baby, and thinking that heaven must be a million times more beautiful. Other songs were inspired by personal experiences and her willingness to be open to the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Her mission is to spread the Word of God through her performances by sharing a message of hope, praise and love for our Lord, and helping people to see God's truth in our everyday lives.
Residing in Lincoln, Nebraska, Ellen has been married for nearly 25 years to her husband, John, Nebraska State Knights of Columbus Vocations Chairman and KVSS Radio Station Manager for the Lincoln, NE office. Ellen and John have two teenaged children named Carolyn and Paul. Carolyn sings with Ellen at many performances. You can find Ellen most Sundays in church where she is music coordinator and choir director.
