Stand Up For Religious Freedom
The Supreme Council has authorized the Nebraska State Council, all Local Councils and Assemblies, and Members of the Order to participate as a Knights of Columbus Member/Council in the upcoming STAND UP FOR RELIGIOUS FREEDOM event to be held on October 7, 2012, as outlined below.
Participation includes organizing, sponsoring, hosting, advertising, publicizing, and attending STAND UP FOR RELIGIOUS FREEDOM events as a Knights of Columbus Member and/or Council.
All participation as a Knights of Columbus Member/Council shall be on a strictly non-partisan basis. The Knights Organization, its name, and the Order's Emblem and Marks shall not be used or associated with anything that appears to endorse any particular candidate. These first two requirements are especially important so close to the November elections. All STAND UP FOR RELIGIOUS FREEDOM activities and participation done in the name of the Order should focus on the issue of religious liberty itself and be presented in a manner consistent with the "Civility in America" campaign, and befitting the participation of a Bishop.
The Knights of Columbus primary point of contact for the Nebraska event is Brother Wayne Ringer 402-797-5121. Additional contacts for the Lincoln Rally for Religious Freedom are Brothers Russ Barger 402-890-5594 and Greg Schleppenbach. Additional information can be found at www.lincolnrighttolife.org.
All media bearing the Order's name, emblem, or marks and/or official statements prepared for the event should follow the guidance set forth herein. If there are any questions or concerns regarding any particular material, the primary point of contact or Nebraska State Deputy should be consulted prior to publication.
